The Owner of My Soul Vol 1: Chapter IX and Chapter X

CHAPTER IX

THE IMPORTANCE

Sydney woke up and saw me talkin to Dad. She came in the living room and sat next to me. She kissed me and took my hand into hers.
“What’s goin on?” She asked.
“Dad was tellin me about information he got.” I replied.
“It’s fairly easy to find these guys.” Dad stated. “The easiest way to do this is to have a trap. They like to hang out at this club called Luscious.”
“Isn’t that the club that has like the record for most rapes?” Sydney asked.
“That would explain it. They have the record for most rapes of men and women.” I stated.
“Sydney, you and all the ladies will be the bait.”
“Let me guess,” She began, “we dress up as revealing and hoe-ish as possible, lead em to an alley and then its game time, ri?”
“Good guess.”
“Are you serious?” I asked.
“Don’t worry, she’ll be fine. They all will.” Dad proclaimed. I thought about it.
“Iight.”
“Now, we find out who’s behind the entire thing and do what we do best.”
“We know Mr. Williams is behind it.” I declared.
“Then we can skip that part.”
“It’s on den, when we talkin bout doin dis?”
“Friday night. Natasha and Keasha are off that night, so they can watch the kids.”
“Coo. Dis gon be a piece of pie.”
“Not exactly.”
“What?”
“As of tonight, the entire Showdown crew will be in Cleveland. Friday night is the leader’s birthday. They will be celebrating at Luscious before leavin back to Chicago. Showdown and Killa Bomb will be out of Cleveland by 2 am that night. If you want payback that will be your last chance.” I thought about it.
“Who’s the leader?” I asked.
“He goes by the name of Chainsaw. We don’t know what he looks like, but he has a scar on his neck that he got from a chainsaw.”
“This outta be interesting.”
“I still got ya back. How many we deep?”
“35 includin you. We may have more if David, Damon, Reese, Wilt and Craig decide to join us.”
“Eitha way, we’ll be quite outnumbered.”
“Basically.” I took a sip of my “OJ” and sat my glass back down. “How many weapons you have on hand?”
“Between Tevin and myself, we have quite a few. Enough to take out the entire Middle East. Still got your sword?”
“No doubt. That’s one birthday gift I wasn’t getting rid of. I’mma definitely go Blade style on deese cats.”
“That’s my boy.”
“Learned from the man.”
“I need you to be ready to jump into this season. You and Will have an undefeated streak to continue. Rules have kinda changed the NBA this year.”
“What do you mean?” Sydney asked.
“The commissioner felt the East was getting too strong, decreasing the chance the West can win. So we’re goin NFL style. The NBA has been broken up into AC and NC. Cleveland is in the AC and Cincinnati is in the NC. Just like the NFL, you’ll play a couple teams from the NC. Cincinnati isn’t one of them.”
“So we’re lookin at NBA Finals bein the best of all time.” I proclaimed.
“Naturally. I need you in good shape to handle KJ and Terrell.”
“Done deal.”
“Don’t worry bout handling your duties as CEO. I have that taken cared of until the end of the season.”
“Works fa me.”
“Good deal.” He looked at his watch. “Well, I’m out. Tasha should be home soon and I’m sure she needs some lovin. I need to go get ready so I can hook her up.”
“Do yo thang.” I said, smiling.
“Be ready Friday.”
“Can’t wait.” I gave him dap and walked him to the door. I locked it afta he left and sat next to Sydney.
“Where’s Tierra?” She asked me.
“At the store with Ma.” I started kissing her neck.
“So we’re alone for how long?”
“Long enough.” I picked her up and we went onto the bed. As I began to undress her, my eye started twitching. Like a blink, Ma and Tierra flashed before my eyes. “Oh shit.” I jumped up, threw some shoes on and grabbed my AMVs.
“What’s goin on?” She asked me.
“Ma and Tierra are in trouble.” She started getting dressed.
“I’m comin wit you.” She told me. She grabbed two 9s out my bag. As we were walkin out, I called Dad. He ran out his room with two Desert Eagles.
“I had a weird pain in my heart.” He stated. We rushed out to the car and drove to the store, goin bout 225 tops. “Go around the side. She always parks on the side.” I drove around and saw Ma’s car. I parked and made sure my guns were loaded. “Look for anyone suspicious.” We looked around the parking lot.
“There’s four men in that car.” Sydney said. We looked and noticed their behavior.
“That’s them.” I declared.
We got out the car and casually approached them. We hid behind nearby cars just to be sure. When Ma and Tierra came out the store, the four men got out the car. The two men that got out on the right side felt my gun on the back of their heads.
“Goin somewhere gentlemen?” I asked. I looked at the tattoos on their necks. “Showdown.”
“Kenny? You’re dead?” The driver said.
“I’m not, but y’all are. What do I have to do with you?”
“Obviously you have a pretty rich enemy. You should be honored since we only aim to kill those that can afford us.”
“Unfortunately for you, since we will now be the ones that end it all.” I pulled the trigger.
“Kenny, mark my words,” The driver began, “we will annihilate…” Dad pulled the trigger, as did Sydney. We ran back to the car.
“Let’s get home befo Natasha does.” Dad suggested. I started the car and sped home. We got out the car and waited for Ma and Tierra.
“We might have to move the day up.” Sydney said.
“I say take em out one by one.” I declared.
“We might have to.” Dad agreed.
“I don’t get it, what were they goin afta Ma fo?” I asked.
“If it’s aimed at me, they know about her.” Dad stated.
“I hope they don’t locate us and attempt to do to your house as they did Kenny’s.” Sydney said. My phone rang.
“What it is?” I answered.
“K, we have da 411 on Showdown and Killa Bomb.” Will said. “Trey just hit up and told me day is prepared to do a major hit on us by tonight. Word has it day gon hit up both cribs tonight.”
“Shit. Any suggestions?” I asked.
“What’s our options?” He asked.
“Simple, we wait til they come or make a stand befo day get here.”
“Definitely make a stand befo hand. I don’t want any damage done to Dad’s crib.”
“I feel ya. Does Trey know what time day’ll hit?”
“Nah, but Yvonne said no matta what, they always do their hits on an equivalent 187.”
2:27 am. Iight, dis what we gon do. When they reach SJ Lane, we’ll have a roadblock so no one can leave or get in. We do our thang befo day hit da cribs. It’s a lil mo complex than that, so at 2100, have everyone here ready. All black, well armed. Bring as many explosives as you can.”
“Done deal. It’s on.”
“Til den, lil nigga, enjoy.”
“Fa sho.” I hung up wit Will and looked at Dad.
“Looks like we have to move tonight.”
“You have a plan?”
“Yes and I think it’ll work. As long as they don’t catch wind that we know.” I looked at Ma pullin in. We helped her bring groceries in the house.
“Where’s Chris?” Ma asked.
“Practice. Toya and Damion went with him.” Sydney replied.
“Look what Granny got me.” Tierra said, showing me a doctor set she got for her.
“Damn, dat’s high tech.” I looked at it. “You get a doll and can…” I read everything you can do. “Damn, dat’s tight.” I gave it back to her.
“Granny said I can run CMH when she retires.”
“You could. I’mma send you to SJU so you can take college courses at the age of 16 and you can get your doctor degree at 20.”
“That’s true.” Ma agreed. “I’ll teach you myself when you’re 14 and can have you a doctor by 18.”
“Really?” Tierra had a huge smile. “I wanna do that.”
“That’s what’s good.” I told her. We continued putting groceries up. When we finished, I sat down on the couch and looked at an area map. Tierra lied down across my lap and went to sleep. I mapped out the area and figured out exactly what I wanted to do. As 2100 approached, they started showin up. Sydney came up to me.
“Got everything in order?” She asked me.
“Yea, we bout to do this thang.” I replied. I stood up and turned on the CGI for the area. “Iight er’body dis da plan.” Everyone sat down and listened. “First off, I wanna say thank you for comin and I really appreciate your help in this. I did a quick head count and have 42 people. We’re estimating about 700 people about to attack us.” A lot of em started cussin. “Calm down, we bout to handle this. I have a plan that’ll make things easier. We don’t know where there comin from. So, we’ll block off both directions. We all know most people don’t roll through this part of SJ Ln unless they live here. It shouldn’t be too hard to spot em. Afta they roll through, block off both ends. We’ll have seven men post up on each ends, setting these chips on the road.” I showed the chips. “These have the strength of a grenade. When rolled over, it will detonate, causing just enough room to drill a lot of em from above. Chris, Dre, since y’all are my snipes, post up on eitha the tree inside the gate or across the street. These are criminals we’re dealin wit, so they will try to get in on any part of the perimeter. Most of us will make our stand here. Try to keep the leader alive. Any questions?”
“What seven men are postin up?” Frost asked.
“Whomeva wants to volunteer.” I replied.
“I’ll choose. If you want to volunteer, come see me.” Will suggested.
“Iight, anyone else?” I asked. No one said anything. “Bet. Everyone load up and set up. We have 5 hours to be ready. At 0227, they will hit.” Ma came out with a big 16’ x 6’ closet on wheels. She unlocked it and unveiled Dad’s collection. “Get what you need. All ammo in the second drawer.” I was bout to head to the kitchen. Will followed me.
“Good plan.” Will said.
“Hope it works.”
“It should. So why are we keeping the leader alive?”
“We need to make sure he gets the message loud and clear.” I grabbed a cup of Pepsi and headed back out to the living room.
“What about the kids?”
“Ma is taking em at 0100.”
“Good deal. Where’s Tierra?”
“Upstairs takin a nap. I’m bout to go up there now and spend time wit her.”
“Sounds a lil scary comin from you.”
“If somethin happens to me, I want to know that the last thing I did was spend time with my daughter. You know my style, I neva underestimate my opponent. As you can see, we have a huge bill on our hands.”
“Are you goin to say goodbye to her?”
“No, I’m goin to say goodnight.” I went up to my room. Tierra came out the bathroom and saw me.
“Daddy, can you play a game wit me?”
“What game you wanna play, baby girl?”
“Madden.”
“Hook it up.” She turned it on and gave me my controller.
“I’m the Browns.” She called.
“Fair enough.” I picked the Rams. We played for an hour, which she hasn’t beaten me yet. “Let’s watch TV. What movie you wanna watch?”
“Umm….Glock 9.”
“Good choice.” I put the movie in and sat in my chair. Tierra jumped on my lap and lied back against my chest. I wrapped my arms around her. Everything I do tonight was goin to be for her. “Tierra, let me holla at ya.”
“What’s up?” She looked at me and turned her body towards me. I paused the movie.
“As you know, you Karla, JET and Damion are goin wit Granny to her job.”
“Who do you have comin?”
“It’s not that someone is comin. More like we’re goin out.”
“I wanna come.”
“Sorry, princess, I can’t do that. I’mma be goin somewhere that can get dangerous.”
“You’re comin back, right?”
“I hope so. There’s a chance I might not.”
“A chance you might not come back for the night?”
“More like forever.”
“Why do you have to go?”
“So they can’t hurt us anymore. These people destroyed our house and all my baby’s stuff. They gotta pay for that.”
“Send em a bill.” She stated. I chuckled.
“I am, but money won’t be what I’ll ask for.” She hugged me. I could tell she was crying.
“I don’t want you to go.”
“I don’t want to go. If I don’t, they may try to hurt us again. If anything happens to you, I couldn’t live with myself.”
“I don’t want them to take you away from me.”
“I won’t let them.” There was a knock on the door. “It’s open!” I yelled. Will came in with a bag.
“Load up, pimp, it’s almost game time.” He brought the bag to me and sat it down by my chair.
“Preciate it.” He left. I looked at Tierra. “Listen to me, baby girl, I want you to be good while you’re with Granny. Don’t get into stuff and don’t be where you’re not supposed to be. I will pick you up in the morning.”
“Promise?”
“Promise. I’ll bring McDonalds too.” I hugged her and kissed her cheek. “Now, watch your movie. I’ll be right over here, okay?” She nodded and wiped her eyes. I got up and sat her back down in my chair. I sat down on the couch and opened my bag. All my weapons were in there. I started making clips for my AMVs, Tech 17s, 745s, and R-5. I pulled my sword out. Dad bought me this bad boy on my 21st. The blade was made out of a metal called Ucladium. It’s sharp, strong, and unbreakable. Superman couldn’t bend it. Only in its liquid form can it be shaped. It’s strong enough to cut through ANYTHING! I shined it and threw on some slick grease for a smooth and painful cut. I sheathed it and loaded my bag.
“Whateva you do, don’t go in the bag.” I told Tierra.
She nodded. I went into the room and put on some all black clothes and a belt with holders. I grabbed a ski mask and gloves. I went back to the living room. I put my AMVs in my side holsters, grenades on my belt, 745s on their holsters, and my sword across my back. Ma knocked at my door.
“You ready sweetie?” I asked Tierra.
She nodded. She turned off the movie and grabbed her bag. I opened the door and let Ma in.
“They’re waiting for you downstairs.” Ma told me.
“I’m on the way.” She gave me a hug and kiss.
“Be careful.”
“I will.”
“Love you.”
“Love you too.” I looked at Tierra and picked her up. “I’ll see you in the morning.” She nodded. “I love you, baby girl.” I hugged her and kissed her.
“I love you too, Daddy.” She replied.
I held her for a good while and didn’t want to let her go. I then handed her over to Ma. I could tell Tierra was bout to cry.
“It’s ok, Princess, Daddy will be fine.” I told her. Ma carried her away, heading to the car. I grabbed my bag, wiped my eyes, and went downstairs.
“You ready?” Dad asked me as I passed by him.
“Let’s do dis.” I gave him dap. “Iight, er’body, let’s get set up.” I announced. We all headed out the house and got ready. All bombs were placed; we were spread out across the compound, and waited as 0227 was moments away. Sydney was next to me.
“Kenny,” She called. I looked at her, “if anything happens to me…”
“Nothin will because I won’t allow it.” I interrupted. I exhaled, “but if anything happens to me, take care of Tierra.”
“I will.” We kissed. “I love you, Kenny.”
“I love you too, Gorgeous.” My eye started twitching badly. “Shit!!!”
I pulled Sydney and we ran a good 50 yds before a grenade exploded. The force knocked us to the ground. 7 big explosions occurred as Part 1 of my plan succeeded.
“You ok?” I asked Sydney.
“Good. You?”
“Straight.” We got up and looked around.
“Where are they?” She asked. I felt it in my body.
“All around.” I replied.
I pulled a grenade out and threw it over the wall. When it exploded, 4 men flew over the wall. AMVs in hand, I activated the wall, pulling it underground, exposing the men hiding behind it. Sydney and I started shooting. We killed em all befo they got a shot off. I looked around to see exactly what our situation was.
“How does it look to you?” Sydney asked me.
“Honestly, I’m not sure.” I told her. “Let’s move around.” We kept them away from the house as much as possible. Left and right, they were comin out of nowhere. “Stay by me and watch my back.” We ran to the front of the house. All we could hear were gunshots. We ducked by the fountain and waited. Candace and Will soon joined us.
“How many we got?” Will asked me.
“Bout a fifth.” I told him.
“How loaded are you?”
“Quite a bit left.”
“I’m almost out.” Sydney said. I gave her two of my guns and some clips.
“Enjoy.” I loaded another clip in my AMVs. “Watch out!!!” I rolled around the fountain. Two guys were runnin towards us on that side. I unloaded on them. I then saw someone in a black Lexus. “Dare he go.” I assumed.
“What do you plan on doin?” Candace asked me.
“Walkin up to him and cuttin his heart out.” I stood up.
“Not wit out me, Negro.” Will said. “Cross Fire style.”
“Cross Fire style.” We looked at each otha, gave each otha pound, and started runnin towards the Lexus. I started shootin people on the left, Will on the right. Then we stopped runnin as we saw Latoya and Yvonne. They were held at gunpoint by the gate. The leader came up to us.
“Drop your weapons.” He told us. We looked at each other and dropped everything. I looked at Sydney and motioned to her to hide. “Kenny and Will. Alive and well. Allow me to introduce myself. I am the leader of the Showdown/Killa Bomb collaboration. The name is Chainsaw.” I saw the scar on his neck. It was him in the flesh. He had a few of his men point guns at us. “Get in the car.” We slowly walked to his car and got in. The Lexus was a stretch limo. Latoya and Yvonne were in the limo behind us.
“What do you want with us?” I asked.
“Where’s your daughter?”
“Why?”
“That’s what this has been about since the beginning. You do realize this is your last night alive, correct?” He stated.
“Maybe so, but what does our daughters have to do with this?” Will asked.
“You really don’t know the potential. Mr. Williams noticed somethin in your daughters.”
“What are you talkin bout?”
“A few years ago, James found a way to look into the future.”
“That’s been known for decades. My father has discovered and used it many times.” I told him.
“Maybe so, but did he know how important his granddaughters are?” Will and I looked at each other.
“Proceed.”
“Your daughters have two path choices that can affect your family or Williams’s. When they grow up, they will make SJ Enterprise in ultimate control of the world. Even better than you.”
“What does that mean?”
“When you and Will take over SJ Enterprise, y’all will take it to new heights, but your daughters will take it 10x further. They will control the entire universe, supplying all with everything needed to survive and outer space shipping. In 20 years, 200 planets will be inhabitable to humans. You two will invent the transportation to get to each planet in hours instead of years. After that, y’all will turn things over and watch as SJ Enterprise rises and crushes all competitors.”
“What does kidnapping them solve when shortly after we’ll find them or someone in our family?” Will asked.
“Your daughters are too young to know the difference. To you it’s kidnapping. To them it’s saving. Our task is to kill the both of you. It’s up to Williams to convince the young ones that you abandoned them. Once they hate the both of you, Kevin nor will Tevin be able to save them. At that moment, Williams would be able to mold them into the next CEO of his company. Soon, your daughters will lead his company; formulate it into TK Enterprise; defeating their competition without breaking a sweat; competition being SJ Enterprise.”
“And he’s been seeing this?” I asked.
“Fortune telling is very scary. He did a few tests to ensure the truth, starting off with minor things.”
“Like what?” Will asked.
“Williams isn’t a very smart guy. How else do you think he set y’all up?” We thought about it. “He saw what he could do, how to do it, and just pulled minor strings.”
“Clever.”
“You remember a few years back with the group Gunn Down?”
“Yea.” Will and I looked at each other and had a confused look on our face.
“That turned out the way it did because Williams knew the outcome of turning Jodie. He knew you’d neva figure it out.”
“He convinced Jodie to switch.” Will stated.
“Knowing the future can greatly influence a man’s decision.”
“If he was able to see the future, how was he so surprised that we’re still alive.”
“Knowing the future doesn’t mean it can’t be changed. Kenny, you were supposed to die that day Jodie shot you. Chris and Dre were supposed to die that night they were shot. Everyone that ended up the way they did when Gunn Down took em out were supposed to die. The will of a man can push the body in ways that we can only imagine. You were by far the surprise. You were dead for a while before you came back to life. Obviously when you have somethin to live for, it can have a very unstoppable affect. It all comes back to your daughter.” He took a sip of his drink. “It was your daughter that brought you back to life. It’s your daughter that will be your undoing if you do not tell me where they are.”
“The way it looks, if we tell you, you’ll still kill us. What’s the difference? For that matter, the locations of our daughters will go to hell with us.” Will declared.
“So be it. Be prepared to feel pain like you neva felt befo.”
“Do what you gotta do, but pray we don’t live cuz you will regret the day you took this job.”
“Don’t worry, gentlemen, y’all won’t live that long.” We arrived at a warehouse in Union. We got out the limo. “Welcome to the House of Pain.” Two of his men began pulling chains down. Two otha ones ripped our shirts off. “Wow, do y’all work out?”
“Yea, every day.” I replied.
“It shows.”
“Thank you.” Will said. They hooked the chains onto our arms and suspended us off the ground. One of the guys sprayed water on us from a hose.
“Let me explain what’s goin to happen.” He picked up prongs that were electrically charged with 26 VAC. “What I have here is 26 volts of pure pain. You will tell me where your daughters are one way or another.”
“Suck a dick, bitch.” I told him.
“What?” He put the prongs to my bare chest. I tried to hold it in, but couldn’t. I yelled as he electrocuted me. Afta 30 seconds, he stopped. “Maybe you’ll cooperate, Mr. Smith.”
“Maybe, maybe not. Who knows now and days?” Will stated.
“This will change your mind.” He put the prongs to Will. He yelled in pain. Afta 30 seconds, he stopped.
“Is that all you got?” I teased.
“Looks like I have to be a lil mo tormenting.” He nodded and two men shot us in the leg. They threw more water on us. “This time, let’s see how this feels.” This time, they had prongs out for both of us. They stuck it in our gunshot wound. It was the worse pain I ever felt. It was so bad, it made me pass out.
I woke up, stretched out on a table. I looked to my left and saw Will.
“Let me ask you again. Where’s your daughter?” I flipped him the bird. He nodded and one of his men stabbed me in the chest on my right side and pulled the knife out. Then back with the prongs in the wound. I yelled in serious pain. I was close to dying being the electrocuting was so close to the heart. Will was getting the same treatment.
“Boss, I don’t think they’ll talk.” One of them said.
“Well, do it prison style.” Will and I raised our eyebrows.
“What do you mean prison style?” Will asked.
“Eitha talk, or get pounded by 7 men straight out the pen.” I looked at Will and then at the ceiling. I closed my eyes.
“You’ll just have to fuck us; we’re not tellin you where our daughters are.”
“So be it.” They turned us over and chained us down. “Have at it boys.” I could hear them pulling down their jeans. I cringed and tried to go somewhere else in my head. Then a big explosion occurred. I looked up and saw Sydney and Candace. Chainsaw ran away. Sydney and Candace killed everyone else and shot off our chains.
“Thank you. You have NO idea how happy I am to see you.” I started crying, hugging Sydney as tight as possible, and completely ignoring my wounds.
Neva thought you’d be this grateful.”
“I was moments away from getting ass penetrated.”
“Awww, I’m sorry baby.” She comforted me.
“Do you know where Toya is?” I asked.
“Right here.” Candace said. My eye began twitching. Ma and Tierra flashed in front of my eyes again. I looked around and saw two motorcycles (go figure).
“Will, we need to go NOW!!!” I ran to the motorcycle, got on and started it. Sydney and Candace followed our lead. Will and I were goin about 250 to the hospital. I stopped right in front of the main entrance and ran in. I approached the lobby nurse. “Is Ma here?”
“They left a while ago.” She replied.
“Do you know where they went?” They flashed across my eyes again. “Nevamind, I know where they’re at.” I ran out the hospital and got back on the bike.
“So where are they?” Will asked me.
“On I-90E. They’re bein chased.” I led the way and rode to Ma’s aid. I spotted em up ahead. I had no guns on board. I maneuvered through her pursuers and rode along side of Ma’s car. There were five cars chasing her. They started shooting at me. I motioned to Ma to roll down her window. “Pop your trunk!” I yelled to her. She did so. I slowed just enough to be even with the trunk. I opened it and used my legs to keep the bike steady. I leaned in the trunk and pulled out some ammo clips, two AMVs, two Desert Eagles, and Desert Eagle clips. I put em in the front compartment and closed the trunk. Will caught up to me. I handed him the Desert Eagles and clips.
“Let’s do dis.” Will yelled to me. I nodded. I looked at the bike’s GPS.
“We have 3 more curves then 3 miles of straightaway.” I yelled to him.
“Bet.” He confirmed.
We kept dodging bullets as we came up to the curves. Once we hit the straightaway, we went to work. Considering our speed, we had about a minute and a half. I jumped up and swung around. AMV in each hand, ridin the bike backwards, I unloaded at the cars. Will did the same thing. All it took were four good shots. Will had the first one, killin the driver of one of the cars, causing it to crash into two other cars. Will shot again and blew up the car, causing all three to explode. Two cars were remaining. Semi-aiming, I shot one of the cars in the front tire, causing it to crash into the other. I shot the engine and blew up one car, causing the other to catch fire and explode. We turned around just in time to make curves. We then saw another car side swipe Ma. Ma’s car ran into a barricade. The car flipped a few times and was upside down when it stopped. Fuel leaked from the car. We stopped at the car and checked it. Ma and Aunt Keasha were the only ones there.
“Ma, Aunt K, are y’all alright?” I asked.
“Yea, we’re good.” Ma replied.
“Where’s the kids?”
“At the hospital. I was a diversion.” I helped her out and Will helped Aunt Keasha. We saw more cars comin our way.
“We gotta go.” Ma got on my bike and Aunt Keasha with Will. We started ridin again, goin a tad bit over 100, dodging cars left, right and ahead. I then saw a helicopter flying overhead.
“It’s your father.” Ma told me.
“How can you tell?”
“I just feel it.” She looked behind to see how close they were. “Can you go any faster?”
“Yea, why?”
“You don’t wanna be too close to the explosion or when the cars flip.”
“Good point.”
I sped up to top speed. I looked in my side mirror and saw Dad shoot at the cars, aiming directly for the engines. Explosions, wrecks, cars flipping were some of the sites we saw. I then saw a car road block ahead.
“What now?” Ma asked me.
“Hang on.” I pulled up and ramped the cars, flying into the air, over a bridge, and back onto the road. The landing was rough, but I managed to keep control.
“How many rounds you have?”
“6 clips.” I handed her one of my AMVs. She looked behind us. 3 motorcycles came up to us. “Two on the left and one on the right.” I told Ma.
“I got the left, you take the right.” AMV in right hand, I slung it to the side and shot the guy in the forehead. He crashed immediately. Ma capped the otha two cyclist, causing them to hit the overpass. Three cars came up on us. “They neva stop.” I looked around. Will and Aunt Keasha took em out. “Where are we?”
“We’re about 35 miles east of home.” I told her.
“We need to end this.” Ma suggested.
“I agree.” I looked at my handheld satellite image to see if anyone was still chasing us. There were 8 cars and 10 motorcycles approaching. “I think we’re comin up on the last bit of em.” I then got a heat signature showin 20 bodies in the middle of the road. I started slowin down.
“What are you doin?” Ma asked me.
“Human rode block ahead. We try to go through that and we’re caught fa sho.” I told Ma. Will and I stopped about 20 yards away from the block. That’s when I saw Chainsaw.
“End of the line, fellas. Tell us where they are or die.” I looked around and saw a way out. Will read my mind.
“Like you said; my daughter is the reason I survived Jodie’s treason, escaped your onslaught on our home, and why we’ll survive this. So the only way you’ll know where they are is if hell froze over.” I told him. “Let me know if that happened.”
Will pulled the trigger and shot Chainsaw right between the eyes. The distraction gave us enough time to escape. We rode off again and started heading West on the other side of the interstate.
“We got company.” Ma stated. I gave her my otha gun.
“You’re on your own. I have to dodge the traffic.” Motorcycles were approaching, but Ma kept them off us. “Is Dad still in the air?” At that moment, Dad’s helicopter appeared. He flew over us and started gunnin down the ones on foot. Then I heard bad news. Two clicks.
“I’m out.” Ma yelled to me.
“That’s not good.”
A motorcyclist started shooting at us. Aunt Keasha had our back as she used the last bit of her ammo to help us. I then saw an accident up ahead. I slowed down and tried to avoid it, but one of our pursuers shot my back tire. We tipped over and skidded into the cars. I slowly got up in a lot more pain, but had to find Ma. She was in the median. I approached her.
“Ma, you iight?”
“Yea, a lil banged up, but I’ll manage.” She replied. “Where’s Will and Keasha?”
“I don’t know.” I then saw them runnin towards us. They jumped on us just as a car flew right ova our heads.
“This shit is crazy.” Ma stated.
“You have no idea.” Will said.
We all got up and looked around. I smiled as Sydney and Candace once again came to our rescue. They stopped next to us. The four of us squeezed in the back seat as she floored it.
“Are y’all ok?” Candace asked.
“Yea, we’re good.” Will replied. “Where have y’all been?”
“We got caught up, but managed to find out some info.”
“What ya got?”
“The good news is we’ve pretty much killed most of em and are down to the last bit.”
“Bout time.” Ma stated.
“Bad news is they know where the girls are.” Sydney said. My anger arose. “I’m heading straight to em now.”
“How many?” I asked.
“10.”
“How many are following us?” Will asked.
“3 motorcycles and 3 cars.” Ma replied.
I went under the driver’s seat and pulled out a long case from under the floor. I gave Will a Tech 9 and loaded one for myself. I put down the window and started shootin. I shot up the engine of one car and watched it explode. Will got the cyclist and shot each one. 2 cars were remaining. The passengers in the cars started shooting. Ma and Aunt Keasha ducked as the bullets hit the back window and even reached the windshield. I shot all occupants of one vehicle and Will blew up the last one. We stuck our heads back in the car and put our windows up. Ma noticed my wounds. I noticed her noticing.
“I’m fine.” I told her.
“I didn’t say anything.” She stated.
“Just before you do.”
I looked out the window and then at Sydney’s speed. We were goin 110. Sydney got us to the hospital and dropped Will and I off at the main entrance. I went into the staff room; nothing. I looked in Ma’s office; nothing. I saw Will also looking; he also found nothing. I pulled my phone out and called Ma.
“The last place I left them was in the Sub-ground. They’re in access 65.”
“Gotcha.” I hung up wit her. “Access 65.” I told Will.
We rushed to the elevator and went down to the Sub-ground level. I looked around and saw the door. It was already broken into. We leaned against the wall. Will opened the hidden vault in the wall. He pulled out two AMVs and 4 clips. He tossed all that to me and got two Desert Eagles and 4 clips for himself. We loaded our weapons and crept into the room. We hid behind two columns. We analyzed the room.
“3 on the left.” Will whispered to me.
“2 on the right.” I whispered back. We looked at the security cameras.
“3 in the back room.”
“2 in the other room watching the kids. What are they waiting on?”
“Most likely word from Chainsaw to move on.” We listened for a minute as talkin began.
“What’s goin on? Boss hasn’t contacted us yet.”
“Regardless, we wait until someone tells us to move on.”
“What if they’re all dead?”
“IF that’s even possible, we will execute at the time he told us.”
“O-D, let me ask you somethin?” Will and I looked at each other. O-D was one of us.
“Speak.” It was definitely him.
“You grew up wit CTB, why are you helping us?”
“It’s a long story.”
“As you can see, we have nothin but time.”
“Iight, I’ll tell ya. I grew up wit CTB, and for years I’ve had to listen to bull about bein family. We supposedly look out for each other, care about all CTB family members, and just all this bull.”
“What happened?”
“In elementary school, Will and Kenny only cared about 4 people; C-Lo, DT, Candace and Sydney. CTB was only those 6. The rest of us were slaves there to do there bidding. In high school, Will and Kenny had the nerve to add two members to the group without consulting with the rest of us. Obviously C-Lo and D agreed and saw nothin wrong with this because they’re scared of em. The rest of us had a problem wit it.”
“What two members they add?”
“Deese two niggaz Lorenzo and Alonzo. Day were used too just to watch ova Will’s and Kenny’s sistas. Dat’s what day do. They use people. No one speaks cuz dare scared of em. That’s why Lorenzo and Alonzo didn’t tell em that they got Lisa and Brittany pregnant.” At the sound of that, Will and I looked at each otha again.
“Damn. So why the revolt?”
“When they got married, only the four of them lived together. The rest of us fended for ourselves. They didn’t care about what we did or had to do. Me, G, Oak, we’ve been getting into shit left and right. For what? Day lookin for Will and Kenny. We kept our mouths shut and got our ass whopped fo it er’week. We got our payback, but it still happened.”
“Why didn’t you say somethin to em?”
“Day aint hearin us. Day don’t care one bit.”
“Damn, O, dat’s rough.”
“For years, Will and Kenny messed up my life. So, I’m helping the cause that’s goin to mess up there’s.”
“You do know we’re not killin the kids, ri?”
“I don’t care, as long as those niggaz are dead.”
“When this is over, we’re goin to have a CTB meeting.” I whispered to Will.
“Definitely.” He whispered back. “The way I see it, I don’t want to give them the opportunity to hurt the kids.”
“Fa sho. We have to do this on the sneak.” We pulled out silencers. We heard O-D get up and went into the room. “Let’s go.”
Will went to the left, I went to the right. Undetected, I shot the two on my side in the head. Will snapped one guy’s neck, and shot the otha two. We leaned on the walls right outside the room. The door to the far room was closed. That’s the one the kids were in. With the door closed, all we did was lean into the room and shot the 3 in there. We then leaned against the walls by the door. As I reached for the doorknob, I heard footsteps. The door opened. I hit him in the face with my gun. Will pointed the gun at O-D whom was still in the room. I held my gun to the head of the guy that I hit.
“Well, well, well, back stabba numba 2.” Will said.
“Daddy!” Tierra and Karla both said as they saw us.
“Stay there, baby girl.” I told Tierra.
“You too, La-La.” Will told her.
“You’re supposed to be dead.” O-D said.
“Considering my history, I’m already dead.” I said.
I then felt a gun at the back of my head. I looked and saw G-Money. Oak Dogg had one to the back of Will’s head. Will held the gun in his left hand to Oak’s chin. Will and I both had a gun aimed at O-D.
“It’s nice for all of us to be in this room at one time. We were just talkin bout a lil meeting we were goin to have later.” Will said.
“So is this how it is?” I asked.
“You brought this along yourself.” G-Money said.
“So it seems.”
“We were supposed to be family, but you only cared about a certain number. By the way, we have a big surprise.”
At that moment, Lorenzo and Alonzo came in the room. Lorenzo pointed a gun at me and Alonzo had one pointed at Will.
“Damn, now dat’s cold.” I said.
“Put your guns down.” O-D said.
“I guess we’re all bout to die today.” I said.
“What do y’all have to do with this?” Will asked Zo and Zo.
“We’ve been nominated to take over CTB.” Lorenzo replied. “Afta we take care of y’all, C-Lo and Dre are next.”
“Now that’s somethin.” Will said.
“I take it we just weren’t good leaders for ya.”
“Y’all were neva good leaders.” O-D stated.
“I see.” I looked down and then back at O-D. “Life has gotten quite interesting. Moment of truth right here, baby. Who’s got the grapefruits to take the first shot? Cuz what we have is a domino effect, gentlemen. Who’s gon pull da trigga to start da first domino. Not too many of us are walkin outta hea today…nah buddy.”
Will and I looked at each otha. We smiled and looked at O-D. We both pulled the trigga on both guns in our hands. Lorenzo and Alonzo pulled their triggers. Five men collapsed to the floor. The guy I hit in the face, a guy that was behind Will that we didn’t even see, G-Money, Oak-Dogg, and O-D. Will and I looked at each other, surprised and then at Lorenzo and Alonzo.
“We wouldn’t do that to y’all. Y’all did a lot for us.” Lorenzo stated before we even had the chance to ask him.
“We had to join up wit em to find out where the kids were.” Alonzo said.
“Damn, y’all smooth.” I walked up to Lorenzo and gave him dap. “I owe ya one.”
“Consider us even because afta I tell you this, you’re gonna wanna kill me.”
“I already know about you impregnatin my sista. O-D said it.”
“I’m sorry. I didn’t intend for that to happen. I just want you to know I intend on doin everything I can to take care of the baby. Give it a good life and be a good father like you are to Tierra.”
“Ya damn right you will. All I need to know is where did it happen at? She’s forbidden to go to anotha dude’s house.” I stated.
“Well it happened in her room while everyone was gone. A couple times in my car. A couple times in her car….I have no idea when conception actually was.”
“Dude….complete overshare. I wasn’t even serious.” I said, covering my ears.
“My bad.” He chuckled.
“Y’all are good together though.” I gave him dap.
“I was also hopin I can have your blessin to ask Lisa for her hand?” I smiled.
“I wouldn’t hope for anything else, but it’s not me you should ask. It’s my father.”
“What do you think he’ll say?”
“He’ll say yes. Without a doubt.” I shook his hand.
“Daddy!” Tierra ran to me. I turned around and picked her up. I hugged her and gave her a big kiss.
“Are you ok, princess?” I asked her.
“Yes.” She said. I held her tight. Sydney, Candace, Lisa, Brittany, C-Lo, Latoya, Yvonne, Dre, Ma, Dad, Aunt Keasha, and Uncle Tevin came in the room. Damion and JET ran to their parents. Sydney came up to me and hugged me. I kissed her.
“It’s finally over.” She said.
“Yea, but with costs.”
“Lots.”
“I’m talkin emotional.” I looked at my former CTB members. “3 of my boys.” Chris, Dre, Toya, Yvonne, and Will also looked.
“I would have never guessed.” Latoya said.
“Yea.” Yvonne agreed. We looked for a minute, then started walkin out the room.
“By the way, Will and Kenny, dat was off da chain ridin y’all did.” Dad complimented.
“Thanks. Been practicing.” Will said.
“We’re implementing it in Cross Fire 3.” Dad said.
“Whoa, anotha Cross Fire?” I asked.
“Yep. We been getting phone calls for months to make anotha one. We’re startin shootin afta the season.” Uncle Tevin said. Will and I gave each otha pound.
“That’s tight as hell.” Will said. We all walked out the hospital and headed home.

CHAPTER X

THE NBA FINALS

“Good Morning, basketball fans and welcome to NBA 2Nite here on ESPN. I’m Ivan Rose, along side Paul Martin, Rick Stein, Al None and Jake Warren. Before we get into our Finals recap, let’s review the entire season.”
“Cleveland managed to go undefeated yet again this season, blowing out teams left and right except when they played against Cincinnati.” Al said.
“That was by far one of the best games I’ve seen. Kenny and Will took over that game showin that their brothas wasn’t goin to out due them.”
“Both Kenny and Will have been averaging a quad-double all year like always. Kenny Johnson finished the regular season averaging 39.6 points, 27.5 assists, 12.1 steals, 11.9 rebounds, 8.4 blocks and shooting 99.56%. Get this, he only had 5 turnovers the entire season.”
“His counterpart on the court, Will Smith, finished the regular season with similar numbers. 42.3 points, 17.5 assists, 11.9 steals, 15.9 rebounds, 8.4 blocks, and shooting 99.7%. He had 8 turnovers the entire year.”
“But you know what, Kevin Johnson, Jr. and Terrell Smith also proved they were a strong duo. KJ finished the regular season averaging 29.9 points, 16.8 assists, 8.4 steals, 6.4 rebounds, 3.4 blocks and shooting 95%.”
“Terrell finished the regular season averaging 30 points, 13 assists, 9.2 steals, 6.5 rebounds, 3.4 blocks, and shooting 96%.”
“It’s obvious that what we have here are four players that will keep getting better to out due each other.”
“During the regular season, they played against each other one time and that one game was by far the best game of the year. The All Star game was also the best in NBA history. You look at All Star weekend and it was a pure competition between these four to see whom the best was.”
“And now we know. Kenny is the best dunker, KJ is the best passer, and Will and Terrell are the best 3-point shooters.”
“How bout that 3-point contest? It was tied 15 times. The fans neva sat down.”
“It was quite a regular season. Cleveland ended the season 64-0, Cincinnati ended 63-1. That one loss comin from the Cavaliers which brings us to our NBA Finals. The series is tied 3-3 and it comes to the final game in Cleveland, Ohio at the C-Town Coliseum.”
“First, you have to think that this series wouldn’t be at Game 7 if Will and Kenny didn’t get injured.”
“For those of you that haven’t been keeping up, Kenny Johnson got injured in the Conference finals against Atlanta when he awkwardly landed after a dunk in the first half of Game 2. He’s been sidelined ever since. Will Smith was injured in Game 4 of the Conference finals when he took a hard foul and injured his knee in the 4th quarter. Luckily, the Cavs were able to still pull out with the win. Both players were absent for the first 3 games of the NBA Finals. Game 4, Kenny made his return, scoring a career high 78 points with 33 assists, 14 steals, 20 rebounds, 11 blocks, and only missed one shot as the game ended in double-overtime. Cleveland pulled out the win 168-165.”
“Kenny Johnson was all over the floor in that game. He played every minute and showed he didn’t lose a step.”
“Will Smith came back in Game 5 and they just put a hurtin on Cincinnati, 137-110.”
“Will and Kenny both were all over the floor showin that neva say die attitude.”
“In Game 6, Cincinnati were close in pullin out the win.”
“Extremely close.”
“They led in all three quarters and once again Kenny and Will made a fourth quarter comeback, making passes, shots and no mistakes.”
“They won that game 122-118.”
“Which brings us to Game 7. What are y’all takes on this game?”
Cincinnati has a strong chance of comin out of Cleveland with a win. Cleveland’s supporting cast hasn’t really been supporting that much. Cincinnati on the otha hand has a pretty good supporting cast. Bein that KJ and Terrell are from Cleveland, this is pretty much a home game for them, so they won’t falter. I’m goin with Cincinnati.”
“You have a point, this will feel like a home game for KJ and Terrell, but that’s not why they’re goin to win this game. For the past 3 games, Cleveland has walked all ova the Tigerclaws. They’re goin to come out with rage, motivation and no fear. Cincinnati will pull out the win no matter how many overtimes this goes in.”
“I agree, Cincinnati will have the rage, no fear, but not the motivation. Cleveland has won the last 3 games and they’re playin in their stadium. Y’all are overlookin the fact that Kenny Johnson and Will Smith are on the Cavaliers and always come through when they need to. Not to mention they’ve NEVER lost a game while on the same team since ever. Cleveland will pull out the win in dramatic fashion.”
“Without a doubt Cleveland will win this game. KJ and Terrell will shine against their brothas some day, but not tonight. Will and Kenny are rollin with the momentum, and have a huge consistency growin. They both are on a huge roll and can’t be stopped.”
“Being the tie breaker, my pick is obvious when I say I’m goin wit Cincinnati for one reason. The fact that KJ and Terrell have somethin to prove tonight and they will do it.”
“Nooo.”
“You’re joking. Not tonight. I’m tellin you.”
“It will happen tonight. KJ and Terrell will show they can beat Kenny and Will.”
“We’ll see.”
“You’re right, we will see. We’re out of time basketball fans. Be sure to watch Game 7 of the NBA Finals tonight on NBC at 8 pm EST, 7 pm CST as the Cleveland Cavaliers look to end the series afta an 0-3 comeback against the Cincinnati Tigerclaws. See if the best duo in history, Kenny Johnson and Will Smith can be contained by the new rising duo, Kevin Johnson, Jr. and Terrell Smith. You can also vote on espn.com for who you think the Finals MVP, Dynamic Duo, and All-Star will be. On nbc.com, vote who you think will win tonight’s game. Thanks for watching, have a good day.”

I was up early as all I could think about was tonight’s game. Will and I were on the workout floor.
“I don’t get it.” I began, “I’ve neva been nervous before any game. Anxious maybe but never nervous.”
“That’s because you see the chance of us losing.” Will said.
“You’re right.” We got on the court. “We need to relax.”
“You’re right bout that.”
After shooting around for a couple minutes, we decided to give it a rest and get basketball off our minds.
I went back to my room and lied down with Sydney. She was sound asleep. I lifted the blanket and noticed she was naked. Her body was so gorgeous. Monique definitely had nuttin on Sydney. I decided to wake Sydney up. I did so by makin love to her. She woke up moaning. I’m too coo.

Noon approached. Sydney finally woke up for real to find me and Tierra reading. More like Tierra reading and me listening. What’s she reading you ask? The dictionary of course. What type of stupid question is that? Nah, seriously, she’s reading a book that she wrote herself. I’m makin comments and askin questions as she reads.
“Now hold up,” I began, “why does the rabbit want to take the squirrels food?”
“Cuz the rabbit doesn’t like the squirrel.” She replied.
“What did the squirrel do to the rabbit?”
“He stole his girlfriend.” I started laughing.
“Understandable. Proceed, Princess.” She continued reading. “Hol up, what does incombule mean?” I was surprised she had it in her book.
“It means someone that can’t be trusted. Like when you tend to lie to someone just to do it.”
“You made that up, didn’t you?” I asked her. She smiled. “You’re definitely my daughter.” She continued reading. Sydney sat down next to us and lied her head down on my shoulder. We listened to Tierra like a happy family. This is what it should have been and not with Monique.
“When it finally came down to it, the rabbit and the squirrel decided to join forces and neva fight ova a female again. The End.” Sydney and I gave her a hand.
“That was real good baby girl. You have good writing skills.” I told her.
“That was beautiful.” Sydney complimented.
“I was wondering if I can get this published?” She asked. I looked at Sydney and smiled.
“Of course, princess, I can get that published for ya. Is that what you want?” She nodded. “Iight, you’ll see it on shelves in about two weeks.”
“Do you think it’ll do well?” She asked.
“Without a doubt. There’s a lot of children that would love this story because it was written by a child. You know what children are interested in, so it helps.” As I said that, it gave me an idea for SJ Enterprise that I was goin to act on afta tonight’s game, since I’m not CEO until the end of the season. I looked at my watch. It was only a quarter to one.
“What time you have to be at the stadium?” Sydney asked me.
“About a quarter to 7.” I replied. “You neva told me what happened with Ma.”
“Oh, she was goin to make me head of observation. I’m in charge of all new doctors, nurses, and interims. She feels that I’m her best asset, so she gave me that to lighten her load.”
“That’s tight.”
“It’s like the 4th highest position. With a couple more years under my belt, she’ll move me up.”
“I’m happy for you. Ma has told me that she expects a lot of you and so far you’ve been meeting that.”
“Thank you.”
“Daddy, I want you to wear this tonight.” Tierra handed me a bracelet. “I made it myself.” I looked at it and saw what it said: I LOVE U DADDY. I smiled.
“I’d be honored to wear this.” I told her. “Come here.” She lied back. I wrapped my arm around her and my otha arm around Sydney. “You two mean a lot to me. I dedicate my performance tonight to you two.”
“Even though Uncle KJ and Uncle Terrell is on the otha team, can I still cheer for them?” Tierra asked.
“Of course, just cheer for me more.” I smiled and kissed her. “Tell ya what, I want y’all to be as close to me as possible. I’ll have reserved seats behind the team bench.”
“That sounds cool.” Tierra said.
“It does.” Sydney agreed. She looked at my hair. “We should give you a new style first.”
“Like what?” I asked.
“I don’t know, but I can make up a design.”
“Iight.”
“While you’re doin that, let’s watch a few movies.” Tierra suggested. “I’ll order a couple pizzas and put in Torment.” I smiled.
“Iight, Tierra, you do that. Sid, let’s go ahead and wash my hair.” Tierra got down from my lap and got on the phone. Sydney followed me into the bathroom and washed my hair.
As Sydney braided my hair, we watched Torment and ate pizza. I heard a knock on my door. I pressed the “open” button on my chair. Will, Candace and Karla came in. Will’s hair was a quarter braided just like mine.
“Aye, dawg, sorry to bother ya,” Will began, “but while I was getting my hair braided, I believe we need to figure out exactly how we’re goin to win tonight.”
“What do you mean? We’ll do what we always do.” I replied.
“It’s not that simple. Trust me.”
“Iight, have a seat. Help yourself to some pizza and watch Torment with us.” They sat down. Will continued to get his hair braided. “Iight tell me what ya got.”
“Well, I analyzed Terrell and KJ this morning. Their mood seemed different. They have a huge way on how they’re goin to shut us down. KJ is goin to play you extremely hard. Terrell is goin to play me extremely hard. They’re goin to make it so we can’t get a shot off at all.”
“Is that possible?”
“Dad told me that their defense has increased in the past couple days. Dad and Uncle Kevin played against them and barely got shots off. Get this, KJ and Terrell beat them 5 consecutive times.”
“What?”
“They only beat them once before, dating back to the beginning. From what Dad tells me, there’s a huge chance they will shut us down.” I looked at Will. I had no idea we’d be faced with such a dilemma.
“So what’s the plan? Obviously it’s too late for us to do anything skill wise.”
“Good thing is we have all the skill necessary. It all depends on what we do to use our skill. Our problem lies with our fellow teammates. Cincinnati has better players than we do. If we shut down KJ and Terrell, they can easily get their points from their other players. Ours are kinda flaky. Their defense isn’t really that great. Jon Tyler, Frank Washington, and Ervin Withers are the players we need to worry about.”
“No tellin if Larry, Mike and Sam can hold them.” I claimed.
“I told Dad that next year we will need to make a lot of personnel changes. We need more people to support us better.”
“Good idea.”
“So what are y’all goin to do?” Sydney asked.
“All we can and hope for the best.” I said. Then I got an idea. “We have to take KJ and Terrell out the game.”
“You mean injure them?” Candace asked.
“Nah, I mean get them fouled out.” I clarified.
“How we supposed to do that?” Will asked.
“If they’re playin that tight of defense, they’re bound to make fouls. The more we drive, the tighter they’ll play, and the better the chances of them getting fouls.”
“Works for me.”
“I know one thing, it’s goin to be quite a game to see.” Sydney commented.
“I agree.” Candace said.

1845: 75 minutes til game time.

Will and I arrived at the C-Town Coliseum to be met by a stream of reporters. Carrying Tierra, I walked by them and headed to the locker room. Tierra and Karla were coloring. I changed into my uniform and put on my warm-ups. I picked Tierra up and took Sydney’s hand as we went out onto the court. I showed Sydney the seats I reserved for them. It was right behind my chair that I won’t be sitting in often. I sat down and picked Tierra up. I sat her on my lap and we played patty cake. Seats started to fill up as we were 50 minutes away from game time. I saw David and Darius in the stands. With Tierra, I greeted them.
“So, who would y’all be routin for?” I asked them.
“Sorry, Kenny, but we goin for KJ.” Darius replied.
“Still sore bout all the times I beat y’all?” I said.
“Sore? More like agitated. It happens too often and this time you’re goin to get what’s comin to you. I peaked in on KJ whoppin up on Dad. 5 consecutive games.” David stated.
“That’s all fine and dandy, but I’m not Dad.”
“No, you’re not, but you’re also not winning.” David smiled and Darius nodded. I then saw Lisa and Lorenzo.
“Gentlemen, I appreciate your support. Please don’t find me rude as I must greet my sister.” I politely said. David always gets pissed when I’m polite like that. I walked off and approached Lisa. She was 6 months pregnant. “My beautiful sista.” I gave her a hug and kiss.
“Kenny, it’s good to see you too.” She said. She saw Tierra. “Hey, sweetie.” She said to her.
“Hi, Auntie.” Tierra replied.
“How are you?”
“Fine.” I looked at her left hand and saw the ring. I smiled.
“I see Dad agreed.” I commented.
“Yea.” She had a smile ear to ear. I looked at Lorenzo. I gave him dap.
“Nice of you to come out.” I said.
“I wouldn’t miss this for the world. Your father paid for us to be front row.” He replied.
“Good deal.” I said.
“Don’t worry, big brotha, we’re on your side.” Lisa stated. “KJ is good, but they won’t win.”
“Hopefully we can prove that.” Latoya, holding Damion, and Chris approached us.
“Good luck to you tonight.” Latoya said, giving me a hug. “The family is split on this game. Most don’t know who to go for and others are well decided.
“Yea, Kevin and your mother for one are undecided.” Chris added.
“Huh? Why is Dad undecided?”
“He wants his team to win, but he wants KJ to succeed in somethin as well.” Latoya replied.
“This will be quite interesting.” I stated. “Well, I have to get back. Enjoy the game.”
“Play well.” Chris said. I gave him dap. I went back over to my bench. I handed Tierra to Sydney.
“Be good, ok?” I told Tierra. She nodded. I grabbed a ball and started shooting around. Reporters caught up to me.
“Mr. Johnson, may we have a word with you live?” Rose Grant said to me.
“Yea, I suppose.” I replied.
“Thank you.” She signaled her producer and he told her they were live. “I’m standing with the Cavaliers star point guard, Kenny Johnson. Kenny, the city is mostly split down the middle, but when it all came down to it, the Tigerclaws were chosen to come out the victor.”
“I’m not surprised. Considering the fact that a lot of their momentum is gone, they’re goin to be playin purely out of desire and heart.”
“Word has it that your brother’s game has stepped up a notch so much that he will be able to contain you. Do you feel that your chances of winning may not be that good?”
“We have a chance just as much as they do. I mean for the first time in my NBA career and only the second time in my entire career have Will and I been the underdog. The fact that we plan on provin them wrong is why I feel tonight will be the best game in NBA history, probably in all of basketball.”
“Are you a little disappointed that you can’t use home court to your advantage?”
“Not really. I always felt that home court advantage in an important game like this was very unfair. No matter how well eitha one of us play, people is goin to wish this game never ends.”
“You definitely may be right about that. Good luck to you and your team. No matter the outcome, I hope we can get a word from you.”
“By all means. We’re goin to have fun tonight, win or lose.”
“Thank you for your time.”
“Thank you.” I went back to shooting around.

“We’re moments away from tip off here at the C-Town Coliseum live on NBC and the only thing I can say is what a game this is goin to be.”
“I agree, Dan. Game 7 of the NBA Finals, and what a game this is goin to be. The Cleveland Cavaliers are comin into their own arena as underdogs against the Cincinnati Tigerclaws. This will be the game for the ages.”
“I agree. What will be the Tigerclaws’ game plan today to stop Kenny Johnson and Will Smith?”
“Keep the pressure on them. Make their other players beat them. If they can take Kenny and Will’s scoring power out of the equation, they will win this game.”
“The arena is filling up fast as Game 7 of the NBA Finals is 20 minutes away. When we come back, we’ll show highlights from the past 6 games and look at the numbers for both teams.”

Will and I were talking as we shot around to take our mind off the game.
“Tierra is getting so smart,” I commented, “she wants me to publish her book.”
“Karla is quite the brilliant one herself. She created this board game and I got it made to be released worldwide.”
“What game is that?”
“Spindle.”
“Say word.”
“Yep.”
“That game is fun as hell.” I complimented. “I had no idea she made that.”
“I wanted it to be a surprise.”
“Surprise indeed.”
“You know, she has her eyes set on goin into the WNBA for a lil while.”
“So does Tierra. She wants to play basketball like me until she’s able to run SJ Enterprise.”
“You know, Chainsaw was right. Tierra and Karla will run the world.”
“Yep.” I looked at the clock. “Come on, we have 10 minutes before player intros. Let’s chill fa da rest of da time.”
“Good idea.” We got off the court and sat in our seats. I picked Tierra up and sat her on my lap. Sydney leaned forward so we could talk.
“Have you calmed down a bit?” She asked me.
“A lot.” I replied.
“Daddy, you’re not wearing your bracelet I made for you.”
“You’re right, I’m not, but I got it right here.” I pulled it out my pocket and put it on.
“Don’t take it off.” She told me.
“I wouldn’t dream of it.” I assured her.
“Your father and mother have arrived.” Sydney informed me. I looked at the front row and saw them. I smiled and looked back at Sydney. “You’re like a lil kid whenever you see your parents at your game.”
“I wish I could explain exactly how I feel whenever they attend.”
“I wonder how your mom feels about this.”
“I don’t know, but I know she’s not goin to just cheer for one of us.” I looked at the clock. “Iight, Daddy has to go.” I said to Tierra. “Stay with Sydney and cheer me on, ok.”
“I will, Daddy.” She told me. I gave her a big hug and kiss. “Good luck.”
“Thank you.” I handed her to Sydney and gave Sydney a big kiss.

“Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, welcome to the C-Town Coliseum here in Cleveland, Ohio. This is Game 7 of the NBA Finals between the Cincinnati Tigerclaws and your Cleveland Cavaliers. It’s time to introduce the starting lineup for the Cincinnati Tigerclaws. At center, Ervin Withers; at forward, Frank Washington; at forward, Jon Tyler; at guard, Terrell Smith; at guard Kevin Johnson, Jr.”  The crowd cheered for both Cleveland natives as they took the floor. Everyone stood as anticipation for us came. “Now, for your Cleveland Cavaliers. At center, Larry James; at forward, Mike Sampson; at forward, Sam Trice; at guard, Wiiiiiiiiiiilllllllllllll Smmmmmiiiiiiiiiiiitttttthhh; and at guard, Kennnnnnnnnyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy Joooooohhhhhhhnnnnnnnssssssssssooooonnnn.” The crowd went wild as Will and I took the floor. We huddled up.
“Iight y’all at the end of this game, a champion will be crowned. We won the last two, let’s make it three.” I said.
“This is our house. We will protect this house.” Will added. As a team, we started jumpin and barkin. “Defense on three.” We counted to three and yelled defense. The crowd cheered as we took the floor.

“With 2 minutes remaining until halftime, the Cavs are in deep trouble as they trail 60-78 in this high scoring game.”
“Kenny and Will have been unable to really make an impact. KJ and Terrell have played outstanding defense and kept them from doing much of anything and from getting the ball.”
“Kenny has only 12 points and Will has 16. They’re supporting cast has done a little, but not much. KJ and Terrell have similar numbers, but their supporting cast has been able to really step up.”
“The Cavs have the ball and are looking to cut into this lead before halftime.”
“Will and Kenny are constantly moving but can’t get open.”
“Shot clock running down; Kenny has a little breathing room, he has the ball, he pulls and hits the three before the shot clock expires.”
“Minute and a half remaining. Kenny and Will need to step up and bring the Cavs back into this.”
“KJ with the ball; gives it to Ervin; Ervin is ripped by Kenny; Kenny pushes it; drives to the basket; dishes it out to Will; he’s spotted in the corner for three; it’s good.”
“The lead is cut to 12. This crowd is goin crazy.”
“The Tigerclaws bring the ball down; they pass it around the perimeter.”
“Kenny and Will are playin fantastic defense.”
“Frank takes the shot; he misses; Kenny with the rebound; he pushes the ball down the court and has Will spotted for another three; it’s good. Will has caught fire.”
“Terrell has left him open twice because neither he nor KJ can keep up with Will and Kenny on the fast break.”
“The lead has been cut to 9 with less than a minute remaining. Will and Kenny are playin tight on their brothers as they are tryin to take them out their game.”
“KJ has the ball; passes it to Terrell; Terrell dribbles and passes it to Tyler; Tyler shoots; off the mark; Will with the rebound and now he pushes the ball down the court; Will dishes it to Kenny; Kenny shoots the three and hits nothin but net.”
“The crowd goes crazy as Cincinnati calls a timeout with :33 seconds remaining. The Cavs go on a 12-0 run and this is now a 6-point game with the score 72-78.”
“Will and Kenny, finally able to get a little breathing room, as they managed to hold off Cincinnati’s offensive onslaught.”
Cincinnati coming out the timeout holding on to a 6 point lead. 0:33 seconds left in the first half. KJ and Terrell can’t get open. Tyler, brings the ball down; he finds KJ; Kenny, guarding KJ; KJ goes up for the shot, and he’s stripped; Kenny pushes the ball down court again; Larry is there for the alley hoop. Once again Kenny makes a huge play.”
“Cavs are now trailing by 4 and the Tigerclaws definitely don’t want to end the half with the Cavs on a 14-0 run.”
“:10 seconds remaining and KJ brings the ball down. He passes it to Terrell; Terrell passes it inside to Ervin; Ervin goes up for the buzzard shot; Will gets the block from behind to end the half.”
“Listen to this crowd as the Cavs come back and now are on a 14-0 run.”
“11 of those 14 points came on fast breaks.”
“Let’s go to Julie Martin, who’s standing with Kevin Johnson, Jr. Julie?”
“Thanks, Tom, I’m here with Kevin Johnson, Jr. who has 17 points in this first half. KJ, you managed to hold Kenny for the most part in the first half. What happened in the last 2 minutes?”
“I wish I could say. They were able to get a lot of good opportunities. They’ve been the best at fast breaks and that’s what we have to prevent them from getting.”
“You end the half with a 4-point lead and the most your team has led was 25. Do you feel this game slipping?”
“Kinda, but at the same time, I didn’t expect to blow them out. These are the defending champions and I believe they will give us hell before it’s all said and done.”
“KJ, thank you for your time and good luck in the second half.”
“Thank you.”
“Back to you, Tom.”
“We go to Greg Myers and India Jid for the halftime show as the Cincinnati Tigerclaws lead the Cleveland Cavaliers, 78-74.”

In the locker room, Will and I talked to each other.
“I was wrong bout bein able to get them to foul us. We’ll have to be real smart about this.” I stated.
“Wait a minute. Doesn’t Dad and Uncle Kevin play us this hard?”
“Yea, why?”
“We could do just like we did with them.”
“You’re right. Damn, I didn’t think about that.” We gave each other pound. “I’m bout to go see Sydney and my daughter.”
“Good idea.” Will agreed. We got up and went out to the court. I sat in my chair and picked up Tierra. I kissed her and held her.
“You played good, Daddy, but you can play better.” She said.
“You’re right, I can.” I agreed.
“Are you just pretendin?” She asked.
“Nope, just haven’t figured out how to get by your uncle.” I told her.
“You should play to your left side.” She suggested.
“What?”
“You’re not playin to your left side enough, causing him to be able to predict you more.” I thought about that and kissed Tierra.
“You’re so brilliant.” I told her.
“You’re havin a good game though.” Sydney said.
“I’m tryin.” I saw the rest of the team come out the locker room. “Wish me luck.” Sydney gave me a nice, passionate kiss.
“Good luck.” I smiled and handed her Tierra.

“Kenny calls a timeout with :07 seconds left in the game and the Cavs trail 132-135.”
“What a game this has been. In order for the Cavs to at least send this to overtime, they have to get Will or Kenny the ball.”
“We all know that when the ball is in their hands, from three point land, they are almost automatic.”
“Definitely.”
“Mike in-bounds the ball; clock starts; Will and Kenny strive to get open; Larry with the ball; passes it to Kenny and KJ knocks it out of bounds with 0.8 seconds remaining.”
“They’ll have to shoot immediately on the inbound.”
“Mike will be takin the ball out again; Will and Kenny; scrambling to get open; Kenny receives the ball deep behind 3-point; he shoots and HITS THE 3!!! Time expires and this game is goin to overtime!”
“This crowd has been on their feet since the start of this half and has not sat down. It’s been goin back and forth all game and now we’re goin in extra minutes.”

“3 seconds remaining in overtime and the Cavs lead 147-144. This game is almost over as the Tigerclaws come out the timeout.”
“KJ has the ball; Kenny playin hard defense on his brother; KJ finds Terrell in the corner; passes it; Terrell shoots and HITS THE 3!!! We’re goin into double-overtime!”
“Will had to fight 3 screens to stay on Terrell. There was no way he was goin to get to him before the shot went up.”
“147-147 is the score as we go to Double-Overtime.”

Will and I sat down as we hydrated.
“You’re doin good, Daddy, keep it up.” Tierra told me.
“Thanks princess.”
“How much do you have left?” Sydney asked me.
“Quite a bit.” I told her.
“This will tie your longest game.” She stated.
“I like it though.” I kissed her and Tierra and went back onto the court.

“We’re down to 2 seconds as the Cavs take a timeout once again trailing by 3, 159-162.”
“They failed to hold on to the lead. Terrell scored to put the Tigerclaws up by one and then stopped the Cavs on the other end. Mike missed an easy lay-up forcing them to foul and send KJ to the line.”
“KJ has been perfect from the line all season and made his two free throws to give the Tigerclaws a 3 point lead.”
“All this does is put us in a situation that ended regulation.”
“Larry will inbound the ball and will try to get it to either Kenny or Will; He inbounds it to Kenny; KJ is all over him; he gets a quick pass to Will who takes the three from the corner and IT’S GOOD!!! We’re goin to triple-overtime here in Cleveland!!!”
“Kenny Johnson with his 43rd assist makes a beautiful bounce pass to Will. Will Smith scores his 63rd point with that 3 pointer.”
“This has been a back and forth game and now it’s goin into triple-overtime.”

“0.9 seconds remaining and now the Cavs are in the lead 173-171. Tigerclaws come out the timeout and will take the ball out at half court.”
“Terrell takes it out; passes it to KJ; KJ catches it and shoots; HE HITS THE 3 as time expires!! TIGERCLAWS WIN!!”
“The officials are reviewing the play to make sure that he got the shot off in time.”
“As we see the replay, he definitely got that shot off in time.”
“Here goes the ref.”
“After reviewing the play, the shot is good, but Kevin Johnson’s foot was on the line, making it a two. This game continues into quadruple-overtime.” The crowd went wild.
“Unbelievable. KJ’s foot was on the line, making it a two instead of a three.”
“That was all the defense. Terrell didn’t have much time to pass in the ball. When he got it to KJ, he didn’t have time to back up behind the line.”
“What a game as for the first time in NBA history, we’re goin to quadruple-overtime.”

“All four stars have played the entire game. 68 minutes of basketball and they don’t seem to be affected one bit. 25.2 seconds remaining and Cleveland leads by 1.”
“The good news for Cleveland, Cincinnati has to shoot and if they do make the shot, they will have time to make a move.”
“One second difference between the shot clock and game clock. KJ brings the ball down the court; they work the ball around the perimeter;”
“They might be lookin for a 3.”
“5 seconds remaining on the shot clock.”
“KJ with the ball.”
“He fades back; Kenny can’t get the block; it’s up; THE 3 IS GOOD!!! 1.2 seconds remaining.”
“That was just an excellent shot by KJ, utilizing his speed and ability to hit the gorgeous fade away.”
Cleveland calls a timeout and Cincinnati leads by two.”
“I think they’re goin to try to send this game into anotha overtime. Cincinnati will defend the perimeter to keep from givin up the 3-pointer. Knowing this, Cleveland will be looking to get inside, hopefully drawing a foul to get a 3-point play.”
Cleveland comes out the timeout and takes the ball out at half court. Striving to get open; Kenny gets the inbound; goes with the crossover; pulls up for 3…………IT’S GOOD!!! IT’S OVER, IT’S OVER!!! CLEVELAND WINS 190-189!!! What a game this has been.”
“Outstanding performances for both teams, but the Cavs pull out the win for their 3rd straight NBA championship.”
“William Smith ends the game with 79 points, 32 assists, 31 rebounds, 18 blocks, and 12 steals.”
“Kenneth Johnson ends the game with 77 points, 65 assists, 29 steals, 23 rebounds, and 12 blocks.”
“On the other side, Terrell Smith ends the game with 64 points, 24 assists, 26 rebounds, 10 blocks, and 9 steals.”
“Kevin Johnson, Jr. ends with 66 points, 21 assists, 26 boards, 8 blocks, and 11 steals. All four stars played an outstanding game.”
“We go live to Julie Martin. Julie?”
“Thanks Tom, I’m standing with Kenny Johnson. Kenny, you once again hit the buzzard shot and won the game for your team. Is this by far your best performance?”
“By far; I don’t believe I’ve ever played as well as I did today.”
“You put up career numbers today, but also you played the entire game through all four overtimes. Did you feel you had to end it when you did?”
“To be honest, I think I coulda went as long as it took. We’re the underdogs, so I had an obligation to prove a lot of people wrong.”
“Do you feel that your undefeated streak may come to an end soon?”
“Playin against my brother when he plays like this, yea, I think it’ll end soon. Right now, Will and I took the pride out of Terrell and KJ since we came back from 0-3 and won here tonight.”
“In pure dramatic fashion, you helped your team win its 3rd NBA championship, congratulations.”
“Thank you.”
“Back to you, Tom.”
“We now go live to center court for the award presentation.”
“Ladies and gentlemen, it’s my honor to present the following awards. First, the Dynamic Duo awards goes to Kenny Johnson and Will Smith for the 3rd consecutive year.” The crowd cheered. “The All-Star award once again goes to Will Smith.” Crowd cheered again. “The MVP award once again goes to Kenny Johnson.” Crowd cheered even more. “I’d like to also present a new award called the Rookie Duo award which will be rewarded to Kevin Johnson, Jr. and Terrell Smith.” The crowd cheered. “Now, I’d like to present the NBA championship to the Cleveland Cavaliers.”

As the crowd cheered us on, I held Tierra in my arms as she held onto my MVP trophy. I kissed Sydney and just enjoyed the glory. I felt like I was on top of the world.
